about me

Sport has always been a part of my life.  I grew up in a household where a love of sport was essential. My first memory is running down the stairs whilst throwing on a Newcastle United FC shirt to greet my toon-loving Grandad at the door.

Since I could walk i've played everything from football, to badminton, to cricket, to running, to golf, to cycling and I'll never step down from a competitive sporting challenge.

I’ve played, trained, studied, wrote about, recorded, videoed and edited my way through the sports field, and I'm fortunate enough to have worked with, and for, some of the greatest sports brands and teams in the world.

Being able to combine my passion for sport alongside my intrigue in digital as well as my love for writing, I'm proud to work in sports marketing.

I've been in the industry for almost five years now, and have worked on pioneering campaigns, world-firsts and exciting projects for the likes of QBE, Accenture, FIFA, FEI, LaLiga, NBA, UMG, Foot Locker and Canterbury.

Now, I'm Marketing Manager at Surrey County Cricket Club, during one of the most exciting times for the Club and cricket.

Keeping up to date with a constantly evolving sports and digital industry is a challenge, but one that I love. I'm constantly learning from my peers, other Clubs, other leagues and players and the talent within the industry is incredible.

Hopefully, you can learn something from me too. My blog documents my learnings and thoughts of sports marketing as well as things that have inspired me in the industry. Importantly, it's a two-way conversation, so do drop me an email if you've read something you want to chat about further.

Thank you.

Why I've stopped using the word 'MILLENNIAL'

If we want actionable insights and ultimately results, we need to be more specific about who we want to target. If you’re targeting simply by age, then trust me, as a ‘millennial’, you’re doing it wrong.

FIVE QUESTIONS I GET ASKED THE MOST ABOUT SOCIAL VIDEO

Where do brands, rights holders and publishers start when it comes to social video? The questions seem endless and as  more content creators begin to publish video content, the fear of missing out  can worry some marketeers.

FIVE REASONS THE NFL DOMINATE SOCIAL MEDIA IN THE UK

For fans of a sport that is primarily played over 4,000 miles away, social media breaks down a barrier of entry and makes the NFL accessible, so it's important that their social media strategy works... and it does.
